I've only ever dyed my hair blueblack. oAo And that sort of color is a color of doom! It permanently dyes everything it touches, seemingly all brands are the same level of effectiveness.
This time I'm dyeing my hair red. 8D I don't want it to be an unnatural red. My hair is already medium brown/red. I just want it to be a lighter shade of red, but dyeing hair lighter is much more difficult than dyeing it darker. >_>
So, recommendations!
This dye job is totally in preparation for going to the beach in CA and then going to AX. I'm so excited! When I lived in CA, I never had money for a nice cut or dye. ;_; I just looked boring all the time...
WHAT IS TOILET GENIE?
TG is a weekly webcomic that I draw, write, and publish. c: It is dark fantasy, currently rated 13+. The story follows a pug which discovers a genie living in a toilet. Through a series of odd events, the pug is turned into a woman. Before she can forfill her destiny (whatever that may be...) she must learn the story of how the genie came to live in the toilet.
WHEN DOES TG UPDATE?!
TG updates ~ Thursdays. But if the page is done early, it updates early. If the page would benefit from more time, it updates late.
COMMISSIONS/TRADES/FREE ART
I'm always interested in commissions, but I may turn them down if I'm cramped for time. Trades are a possibility, but unlikely. If you have to *ask* me for free art, chances are I will not give it to you.

I'm not sure if you can get Pravana hair dye for home use, but if you can find a Pravana salon then you'd be set. And if you've found something already, I hope it went well.
I do recommend after dyeing your hair, you shampoo it in lukewarm water and condition it in cold. It keeps your hair shafts close so less color will drain out.
You could also try henna! I used to use henna to dye my hair way before I ever tried chemical dyes. Henna a natural dye made of powered plants. I loved using it but it didn't give me much of a red because my hair was too dark. It gave me more of a reddish highlight in the sun. Henna doesn't cover your natural color either. It actually tints and mixes with your natural color so it looks very natural. I think you'd have a more visible red since your a medium brown. Henna rarely ever fades too, since it bonds permanently with the color already present in your hair. It can be on the expensive side and it's a long process to dye your hair. But I always thought the long process was worth it for the results. It also dyes EVERYTHING. Hands, arms, scalp, ears, hair, EVERYTHING. If you don't want dye hands for a week, use gloves; put petroleum around your hair line and on your ears and nape of neck to keep them from getting dyed. You have to be careful were you buy it, though; I bought my henna online from a reputable henna dealer. Store brand henna usually have chemicals added in them that damage your hair more than a box dye does. This was the site I'd buy mine from: [link]
It can explain it more than I can too. I hope I was helpful enough! owo
One word of warning though, red is also the hardest color to strip out of hair, and it really builds up after you've been using it for a while. I don't regret the years of red, but I could not believe how much bleach it took to finally get it out. Just be prepared that a change from red will take a bit of work.
Aside, I tried to dye my hair violet-black (which I've done before) earlier this year.. I was confident black is probably the most permanent colour I could dye it.. but this time it washed out after 3 weeks. o___o;
A good rule of thumb with red is to avoid the bright/vibrant colors since those don't last long. You'd need special shampoo for those, which rarely work and could seriously grease up your hair like it did with mines.
I may get a cut for my hair too before CA. I got split ends that need to be dealt with. >.< Plus, I want to look nice in CA. Eeeeeee, I'm totally getting in that water dammit! I don't care if it's freakin' coldf or what! >.<
But then I realized that was dumb, because I think you should go for it! I am excited to see your hair! :3
