Shattered stone in kudzu grows
a place from which water no longer flows
Shadowland

--

You might download the file. It is pretty big, for seeing pretty textures. ><

I really like charcoal, but I don't see many people using it? I guess it's messier than pencil and it has less commercial value than color media... I have not used charcoal since foundation studies in my undergrad. o3o And then only for still life and model. So this was new and different. >< I really like it, actually, but I don't trust my own tastes? Er, hard to describe .... but fun experiment, anyway.

Sedna and Vidu, inspired by a future scene. Sedna's fur is like falling into a pillow blanket hug. X3 A wolf with a mane of a lion, but such thicker fur than a lion's.

Of the three worlds, our world, being the largest and heaviest world, was the last to wake. The creatures of the Overworld called it "Shadowland," for both its lack of light and deathly lack of water.

Things did obviously change at some point.

I did listen to this song while drawing. XD I'm not always into this sort of music, but I do like this song. For the lyrics as much as anything else.

vine charcoal
pencil charcoal
photoshop for color alts
graphite for sketching

I think coal works really well in this drawing :D its a pity more people dont use it, as seen here you can get some really unique textures!

I love charcoal, this picture shows how wonderful the texture can be. My problem was always, as you said, it is SO MESSY. Whenever I used it (which, likewise, has not been since school). I look like a chimney sweeper by the end.

I think it is the greatest thing to do gesture studies with, though.

This is so, so beautiful. I loved working with charcoal back in school, but I came home absolutely COVERED in smudges and dust. On my face, on my clothes, in places I didn't know I had places!

Will the comic be updating again soon? I read the whole thing basically in one sitting and now am on the edge of my seat for updates!
