Daniel Smith watercolor
Arches 140lb Cold Press paper

I kind of love painting still lifes??? Is that an okay thing to love? I kind of envision my future old lady self going through a classy phase in which I paint elegant still lifes. I'm too into comics and games to do nothing but still lifes right now, but someday, I'm going to do them AND I'm going to wear a decidedly refined black turtleneck while doing them. And probably glasses with thick rims.

Yes. It's decided. I have 50 years to work towards this goal.

The glass and liquid look absolutely incredible! I also love the warm hues of the first image.

I love this and interesting fact Dutch Paintings were a lot of still lives , but had a lot of symbolism so told a story or concept at same time. I feel this starts to portray this in ways. Also during that century I believe 16 or 17th still life was considered the highest there , but fell out favor when women started dominating that area despite they were excellent artists. Anyway ignore those ignorant men of the past and remember stillife can be what you make of it and can be narrative with like game still life. Happy creating!

I love the artist's comment on this piece, it made me laugh and go "D'aww" at the same time. You can definitely be that old lady. I like both of these, especially the bottles with the sharp white ambient light.

Really good work on this...Red and green are complementary colors to each other and the hue and ratio is just perfect! This is why i love watercolor so much...The layering of dried to wet watercolor is always one of my favorites...One question though...Did you use any kind of masking for some bits, or just fine brushes and steady hands? I have experimented some time ago with liquid rubber mask but i found it stuck to the paper often.... Excellent work as always....

actualy making still lifes is like the best way to learn how to shade diferent materials and textures and lighting + folds on cloth, i made around 5? still lifes for school and all of a sudden i started shading way better cloth O.o it was so sudden like from one day to another lol :lmao: too bad i don't have time to make more still lifes but when i get free time i will :)

I really love the colors here. The only thing that I think I would criticize if asked is the red bottle. While it may be just me, I can't quite get a feel for it's positioning or how it is positioned, whichever turn of phrase makes more sense. That aside, I find the colors vibrant, the reflections amazing, and the little fruit protector thing that they use in boxes adorably placed. Great job!

I guess I can kind of see what you're saying about the positioning, but I'm not sure how I would fix it. XD Or if I knew how to fix, well, ish done now. X3 Glad you enjoy it otherwise!

Yep. :) I figured as much - god, with all the effort that's been put in there, I'd hardly expect you to change it! I just thought I ought to give me take on it. <3 Thanks for art'ing~

Lovely!

Very simple and straightforward, yet intricate and engaging, and it makes my eyes very happy. I keep jumping between the individual compositions and the details within each, can't stop looking. :]

I envy you. Fifty years into the future I imagined myself as dumpy and surrounded by cats. But now, I think I, too, shall wear black turtlenecks and thick-rimmed glasses as I paint still-lifes. Yes. Someday, I shall thank you for your influence, Blix-it.

Ah well you're still allowed to have cats! But better make them dark colored cats so their fur suits the turtleneck color. >_>

As for me, I want a German Shepherd when I'm 80. Sounds like a sweet dog for an old lady. XD

German Shepherd is a good idea. They look scary, so no one will rob your house, but are actually friendly, so they don't kill your grandchildren when they visit. Good choice.

Personally, I don't actually like cats. But I've always assumed that, at the rate I'm going, I'll probably end up to be a bitter old cat lady, when I actually want a buttload of reptiles. Or birds.

My favorite part of these are the bottles. The way you painted them and their contents and the way they're reflecting light is utterly gorgeous. I wouldn't mind having these hanging on my wall in my kitchen if my kitchen had the space for it~

I would imagine! One of my friends really likes to do still lifes with a bunch of reflective objects just for that reason. He gets so lost in it; it's kind of adorable.
