Description

Thank you picture and wallpaper. :la:

D8 Thank you so much for the DD on this piece. Surviving webcomics to reach page 100 is a personal miracle. >< Please don't be afraid to check out the entire comic if you've got some reading time. The support given to this comic on DA has been really amazing.  I know we're all supposed to do art FOR THE LURV or whatever, but having other people enjoy one's work can be an equally good motivator. (Speaking candidly, after 100 pages of watercolor and photoshop pages, the love is sometimes found lacking. :| )

----------

Page 100 of TG really needed to kind of sum up visually what came previously.

Maybe I haven't developed the Underworld enough yet, but more on it in a few pages ... Vidu and Sedna are sitting up on this rock outcrop that's part of a much longer ridge which slowly diminishes in height. Across a sand bottomed valley, there is a much much taller sheer sheet of rock. In that strait up wall of rock, there is a single cleft, very narrow, as though carved by unnatural forces. In that cut through the rock is where the dragon sleeps.

Here, Vidu faces that black chasm through the rock where Sedna has told him the dragon is.

Since it is page 100, I wanted also to include a reference to a painter I really intensely love. Perhaps you would like to guess who? That painter's most famous image is one on a similar composition to this, but with only one figure, and that figure is in black, gazing at a white landscape.

I will give you a moment to guess.

"Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog" - Friedrich

I love everything about his art. T_T His depiction of nature as god is everything I've ever wanted to paint.

This painting of mine can't even sort of compare to how I feel about Friedrich's work. I'll be returning to this concept at some point. I like the idea - Vidu in white and orange with a saint like halo, staring at the darkness ahead of him (literally and figuratively.)

XD Also, this painting betrays another influence. Red River. <3 <3 <3 I love Shinohara's figure drawing. She draws these tall, thin, but muscled men. I always imagined Vidu in her style. 9__9; He is built something like bamboo. Thin and graceful, unbreakable and willowy. Sedna is shorter and much more muscle bound (being fluffy doesn't help.)

Wah, long long description. There is a special thing on TWC related to page 100. You might check it out. ^___~
