This is pretty different than anything else you've seen in my gallery?? YES IT IS. I've never illustrated a classic dragon before! And it was really super fun, I loved it. This creature is called a Glass Dragon and she (I dub it a she, but haven't been told one way or another) is from Destined Legends.

Destined Legends has nine days left to go on its kickstarter as I write this. Today it hit its first stretch goal beyond basic funding. That's really super exciting! Please go check out the kickstarter if you haven't seen it yet. If the kickstarter goes another 5000$ over (I think it might actually do that! O_O) We reach stretch goal 17500 at which I get to do another giant ridiculous painting of unreasonably awesome subject matter. In edition to 20 other cards that are in the standard battle set that I'm already doing. TOTALLY EXCITED. GONNA PAINT SOME SWORDS, SOME LADIES, A CERBERUS, AND OTHER STUFF. So yeah please go see the kickstarter I'm nerd flailing over it.

For the Glass Dragon, a special card of extraordinary usefulness and destruction, there were only a few presets. There was a color scheme that looked something like a winter sunset and a basic description that is best summarized as "SUPER AWESOME, MAKES EVERYONE CRY ONCE PLAYED." This resulting design was my imagining of a northern dragon. One that is capable of flight, but conducts most of her hunting under the sea. Her coloring is made to blend with the sea foam and slide unnoticed along glacier walls. She prefers to eat beluga, but has been observed risking confrontation with fishing boats which have a tendency to drop tasty meat blobs wrapped in chewy cloth into the water when bumped violently. She doesn't enjoy carrion, her preference is for food that is raw, wriggling, and warm bodied. Though fish can be torched with fire to produce a similar result, if absolutely necessary. The Glass Dragon normally considers the numerous coastlines of Canada's distant islands to be her territory, but when she has a special taste for meat blobs on boats, she sinks deep under the stormy surface of the water and makes her way south, sometimes going as far as Oregon's rocky coast where the meat blobs are more numerous and sea lions are also common. The Glass Dragon's only hazards are orca, who hunt in pods and tend to be bitey and territorial towards her. On confrontational occasions, the Glass Dragon has been known to glide out of the water on her wings and lay just out of reach of the sea locked orca. The two drastically different predators might be tempted to fight it out, but neither of them are small enough for the others' easy consumption. Risking injury for such unenjoyably edible prey then seems useless.

Or so go my imaginings of a sleek, pale dragon with the coloring of a winter sunset.
