*tries to have fun* TT_____TT ... college has turned comics from something I do for joy into an epic struggle of me verses paneling, coloring, scripting, penciling, inking, lettering, pacing, anatomy, perspective, spot blacking, etc etc etc. AAAAAAUUU! I can barely post this without crying over it's problems because it isn't a fully rendered, lovingly detailed, heavily critiqued piece of blood, sweat, and tears.

uh. XD I need to do more homework now... cameos in panel 1 are ~invisibleINKstain, ~QueenGwenevere, and =BlackLillian. Some costume alterations due to Nemo's Boobie Vision.

Hang in there Cari! I had that same feeling for awhile, it's a lot of responsibilities for sure. But I think if you could some how take a short break from working on comics it'll help recharge your passion.

Btw, I love the skull candle holders on the walls.

I understand the feeling, especially as finals approach! You and I seem to be going through similar issues, where our greatest love is also our source of the most pain. However, I have to say that this is one of your most consice, clear minicomics to date.
I love the heavy rings around Myra's eyes, though I think her introduction could have been a little clearer. The rings under her eyes really add something unique to her character that, because of the way you render them, make it look like she hasn't slept since Nemo had three heads! Of course you have to take this last bit of approval with a grain of salt, as this is coming from the girl who draws EVERYONE looking like they haven't slept since Nemo had three heads, so....

Lastly--and most importantly--I like that you're introducing some diversity into your cast, such as a dark-skinned Nemo and overweight Jade (speaking of which, NEEDS MORE JADE

)--but I think your next step is to actually make Nemo appear ethnic, instead of going the classic comics route of 'white-looking guys with dark skin'. I think you capture this best with Nemo's nose in the panel where he's sniffing the Jolly Rancher; his nose looks non-caucasian, which really brings his look together. If you want reference for one of the first guys who broke out of this 'everyone looks white'-mold, check out George Perez's later works, from the mid-or-late-80s onwards (hint: New Teen Titans, Crisis on Infinite Earths, etc.). Especially with your focus on differentiating every facial and bodily feature of every character, he's an excellent reference because he was really the guy to emphasize this concept, and a lot of the variety of character-looks we see in comics today are because he was one of the first to push the idea.

auuuuu!!!!!! I NEED A HUG! O_O *stress over everything* I met with my advisor because I'm graduating and bla bla bla... and that is stressful. Oh well.

Yeah, I wanted diversity in my cast. Still learning to draw it though. O_o After you and Wetmoon and living with a bunch of international students, I love the funky characters. XD AND I DO NEED MORE JADE but that's a side note. I had this idea for Nemo and Jade a couple days ago that was so cute. <3 It involved a cat and a bike. .... but not the way that sounded. It didn't involve running the cat over.

Thanks for the reference to Perez. [lol, I remember you geeking out over him being at Megacon two years ago.] I shall check him out and see what's up. dunno how close I'm coming to what Nemo actually looks like in my head.... he's such a mixed blood ... I did find this though - [link] btw I love this photographer but this kind of face and complexion is what I want.

Yeah, I kind of know how you feel. I've only been in art college for about a month now and I'm starting to feel the struggle. But being almost killed with homework only makes you stronger, or something like that...Keep going strong though! XD <3 for Nemo!!
