Ass or Ack?

I guess you'd have to have addressed a package to Alaska to get the joke .......... It isn't abbreviated AL, it is AK. But it would have made more sense in the pattern of state abbreviations for it to be AS. For obvious reasons, the residents at the time of statehood picked K as the second letter. (Or maybe they had other reasons for picking AK ... I don't know.)
